"New" Blog

I've decided that it's kind of silly to keep up two blogs. It's kind of fun to have my "own" here, and our "family" one separately, but I've decided to merge them--at least for awhile. I'll start posting more photography and artsy stuff at

Please, Please keep reading and keep commenting!!! I really love getting your comments!

Thanks for reading!

Scones

Today I made scones from my new bread-baking book. It was fun. They were very yummy. David even ate one even though he usually thinks things like this are terribly pretentious.

Also, I found out from David's mom that the slate from my new chalkboard comes from the Grantsville school which is notable for a few reasons: 1) it is right across the road from the Casselman Inn 2) David's Grandpa Miller taught there for a few years and 3) It is where Rachel's lovely apartment is.

This Week's Projects

This week I finally got a chance to start on some of the projects that have been stacking up over the last 9 months. Here are two that I finished this morning:

A couple of years ago for Christmas, David's parents gave us some slate that comes from a schoolhouse that is somehow special to the Miller family (I need to check out the significance with David's mom again). I wanted to use this piece as a message board. I painted on the edging--I wish now that I would have made the painted area a little smaller, but I think there is still enough room left to make it useful.

No, I didn't sew this from scratch. It started out as a straight dress that I got at a thrift store a couple of years ago. I never quite liked how it fit--sort of an outdated style and it hung weird on me. But I really liked the embroidery at the bottom. So I re-made it into a top to wear with jeans. I added a babydoll waist and ties in the back. I don't know how much I'll wear it--but hey, I wasn't wearing it at all before.

Fun with Photoshop

This is why it's a bad idea for me to study for my statistics exam on a computer that has Photoshop.

P.S. If anyone still actually reads this blog, I promise that when the stats exam is over, it will get much, much more interesting.
